i have a runtime error -2147217887 (80040e21) scaling of decimal value resulted in data truncation, how do i resolve this

At what point does this happen?

I have the same problem.

I'm running Windows 2000 and downloaded the suite and db from your downloads sections.

 I changed the Tax % in the Config section of the STOCK manager and now I get this exception in the PCTILL program when trying to submit a new transaction:

 Run Time error '-2147217887' (80040e21)

'Scaling of decimal value resulted in data truncation' 

I tried testing the tax % on 10% and 14% not working...

I also tried changing all of the tax configs to 10% and the markup configs to 10%, not working...

 When I keep the tax % on zero the transaction in PCTILL goes through.

 I've got a idea that a data type is configured wrong in the db.

Was version of SCM are you running, and at what point does it happen?

I'm running version 3.5.0 of scm and pctill.

I tested it on XP and windows 2000 on diffrent computers, and the same problem.

It happens after I intered the product, amount and quantity and I press enter on pctill 3.5.0.

It is suppose to display me the total including VAT now, instead it gives me the error and shut down the application.

I am also getting the same error.  Running version 3.5.0 on Windows XP.

We are unable to reproduce this error.

Those sufferring, can you let us know what locale you are using, and set it to one that uses a . as a decimal point instead of a , - we are wondering if that is the problem...

Does it matter how much the item's retail price is?

I have exactly the same problem running windows XP and with UK configuration. Changing VAT rate or product price makes no difference.

Would you be happy to email us your stock.mdb and your licence codes so we can see if we can replicate it?

Though before you do, ensure you are running the latest Jet (at least Jet 4 SP8)
