    VAT and Run-time Error

    Hi!

Just trying this system out and have fallen over at the first hurdle!  If I leave the VAT rate 1 at 0 (zero) then all is well.  If I change it to anything else I get the error "Run-time error '-2147217887 (80040e21)': Scaling of decimal value resulted in data truncation" when accepting a PCTill entry ... crash!

I see that there have been several posts on this subject since January 2008 but no posted fix or work-around.

Any help greatfully received! Using v3.5.1  Standard Win XP system UK based nothing fancy!

Reason for no fix yet is we are unable to replicate the issue Tongue Tied

Would you be prepared to send us your .mdb file, and list of steps to reproduce?

Please tell me where to send it to as the attachment option here tells me I don't have permission :-)

    Re: VAT and Run-time Error

Thought I would just add that I am having this very same problem.  Have tried both V 3.5.0 & 3.5.1 both with freshly downloaded stock.mdb files and get this error if I enter any amount in the Tax columns.  To test I used my Vista Premium laptop and our works XP sp2 computers (with both versions of Epos suite) with the same results.

I am happy to supply the stock.mdb file and keys if you let me know where to send them (the stock.mdb only has a couple of items on as I want to get it runnung ok before I spend hours entering all the data.

    Thanks

    Re: VAT and Run-time Error

Are you a new user, or existing user who has just hit this issue?

If new user, can you remember exactly what steps you took to produce this error?

    Re: VAT and Run-time Error

Hi, I'm a new user running v 3.5.1 on vista

If I go into SCM config and set VAT1 to 17.5%, click ok and exit SCM

then run PCtill and login, enter a stockcode and press enter, press enter to accept the qty of 1,

and then when I press enter to accept price I get the run time error.

    Re: VAT and Run-time Error

Thanks - can you give me retail price of said item to help us replicate your issue?

    Re: VAT and Run-time Error

retail price is set to 27.35 but it does not seem to matter, I have several items in the DB at different prices and it happens on all of them.

    Re: VAT and Run-time Error

OK, I think we may have a fix for this, will be in v3.5.3 or later.

We will try and get a beta out today, so people can test and provide feedback on fix.
