alank:
hi lettronics,
thanks for sending me the files. i was wondering if you know where i can get the firmware from?. i couldnt find it on uk-bug.net.
the other question is on the command config software it requires a MAC Address. would you know where this would be on the router? i dont have a CD or any other software just what i have managed to aquire. i tried setting up the BOOTp but and has a box for the serial number but i don't know where this is on the box.
so i have the files you sent me, and i'm geussing that none of those are the kernel file. (i am a total N00b) thanks for all your help. p.s. if you have the v5 firmware and if you have time. my brothers e-mail is david.kenly@ntlworld.com. cheers mate.
alan
One of the files would be the kernel (around 1Mb in size), other(s) are ASIC.AIC
Kernel needs renaming to kernel.f2k before transferring. If using config manager, you just need serial number, not MAC. If using Weird TFTP/BOOTP products, then you should see MAC address on incoming BOOTP requests.
If this is out of your depth, I am on the Northamptonshire/Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire border if you are ever passing that way, and will happily do the update.
As for V5 firmware, I **may** have some, but to be honest, if you have a 060-5861, then v6 is miles better (120-5861 only has 1Mb flash and cannot take v6 firmware. Upgrading flash to 2Mb - they are all fitted with 2Mb, but only 1Mb is addressable - requires some soldering on surface mount devices)
