I just downloaded new ver of software and installed it over the 3.5.6 beta. Beta ran fine by the way and it sped up the drawer opened before the receipt printed.My main aim for the uppgrade was to get the receipts only printing as required. At this point the till and drawer were working fine.

Had a few probs after the upgrade...

After upgrade i edited tills and selected no receipts......... This worked and no receipts were printing but the drawer would not open...

This was a tm88 printer and selected tm88 in scm. Tried rebooting and reseting printer etc but would not open the drawer.

Then I selected apd driver. Now the drawer opens but after every sale the receipt printer feeds one blank line to the printer.

Also if i hit print last the receipt is printed but it does not auto cut as it did before. There is also a  pause half way through printing just before it prints the receipt number in large writing.

I actually setup a new till in scm and changed the key on the pc to match new till but the problem is still there !

Any ideas..... What is the line feed problem ? and why do tm-88 option not open the drawer.

I also noticed that the stock.mdb was 226mb. I ran it through ms access compact and repair. This made it 26mb !!  Does this sound normal ?

Version i used was 3.6

Just noticed 3.6.1 !

Would this cure any of the problems ?

Also in the forum under software announcements it still lists older versions. It is only on the main site index i noticed the upgrades.

 

Compaction sounds about right - Jet does pad out databases quite a bit. We'd always recommend backing up first, and regular compaction.

 

Not sure why it won't fire till drawer using hte tm88 driver.

Firing till drawer with no receipts on APD is always going to be an issue, as you set the fire in the APD driver, so something needs to be printed. I don't recall it printing a blank line though, will have another test on whatever APD printers we have here (not sure we have older style TM88s)

 

3.6.1 only removed a duplication of VAT No on receipts, no other faults fixed or features added over 3.6.0

Did you mean that you only have older tm88's because the one i am using is an older tm88 III model but the same fault is on the newer tm88 IV model.

Or did you mean that the apd driver will not work on the older models ?

What version of apd driver are you using ? I am using

v 4.1 Epson Advanced Printer Driver for TM series.

v 4.1 Epson-TMT88III-Drivers.exe

I think both tills have the same driver installed !

4.06 is the APD we're running, not sure that will make a difference.

The pause is due, I suspect, to font downloading, as its set to be a barcode. Need to dig out full details to get barcode to work, though we're looking in later versions to perhaps have option to remove.

 

Snowed under this week, so won't get opportunity to check until next week.

 

Is the biggest issue the till drawer?

Yes till drawer is bigger issue.

At the moment i am using the apd driver but switching the printer off

so no line feeds with every transaction. Hassle when someone does ask for a receipt.

I would prefer to go back to the epson driver if possible ? But to get the till drawer to work .

Epson driver still available, but may not be in future versions, once we have the APD setup working as well as we want it.

In SCM > Tills, have you set Printer to APD V4 and Drawer to Printer (Set port to 0)?  Additionally, you need to ensure KDD Pin is set correctly for your drawer.

I did manage to get the drawer part working on my system. I already had the settings just like you said. I only got it working on till2 at the moment. Till1 still does not cut after printing a receipt but the drawer does now work. I didn't have time to check why the cut does not work on till1 but i will update later. (Same printers / spec / drivers )

Now i am using the apd driver and the drawer opens but there is still a line feed and cut after each transaction just as the cash drawer opens. At the moment i still switch the printer off and turn on when someone wants a receipt and hit print last.

The printer needs powered off and on if any changes are made to the tills in scm. If you dont power cycle changes do not work ! Took a while to work this out ! ! !

Also when using the apd driver and currency is £ you now need to set this to £ in scm not # symbol as described in other topics. Otherwise it just prints the # ! ! !

Hmmm, will look further into drawer and line feed issue then.

 

Paper cut, you set in the APD driver now - under document settings iirc.  Here you can also set a logo to be fired off to printer either before or after receipt (or both).

 

APD does need £ in currency symbol, direct ESC/POS control needs #

I'm unable to test this as it looks like my drawer has gone faulty, but can you set up APD as per attached image
